SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE



  • Achieving national recognition in the employment law field by writing Labor and Employment Law, an undergraduate textbook for West Publications that includes edited cases as well as text discussing all areas of labor and employment law.
  • Conducting extensive legal research and creating a wide variety of written pleadings, briefs and other documents regarding complex procedural and substantive issues.
  • Managing the transition of the Ohio Department of Agriculture into the collective bargaining system including developing and presenting training for all management staff. Guiding management staff through a major change in agency functioning.
  • Acting as legal counsel for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, (now part of ODJFS) and the Ohio Department of Agriculture for over eight years.
  • Developing expertise in public documents law, including both disclosure and confidentiality requirements.
  • Handling state and federal litigation including extensive motion and appellate practice in a wide variety of subject areas.
  • Conducting a private practice in the areas of juvenile justice, child welfare issues, charitable law and employment law.
  • Teaching paralegal students in a wide variety of both substantive and procedural areas including employment law, critical thinking, and standard and computer assisted legal research.
